Have you ever sat down to watch someone else do calculus for two hours? No? Well, sitting through Inferno delivers a fairly comparable experience.

Because nothing says “fun time at the movies!” like watching professor of iconology Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) scramble, sweaty and bloated, from one architecturally stunning location to another, solving completely bewildering, indecipherable “puzzles” – all on his own and, this time, all relating to Dante – over and over again as he goes.

"I want the severed head of Phil Collins in my fridge by the end of the decade. And if I haven’t, I’ll be a failure." - Noel Gallagher

Even the accountant can't organize all of these random puzzle pieces into a coherent whole...

Let me preface this review by saying I lurrrrrve Emily Blunt. And, to her credit, starring in this big-screen adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ bestselling novel of the same name is one of the main reasons I was super-excited to see it. Too bad the resulting film was slow, boring and, overall, kind of lame.

So strong was my visceral reaction to the true-life horror as portrayed in Deepwater Horizon, that it took half an hour for my shoulders to relax after the credits spooled.

A stunningly gorgeous film derails into Nicholas Sparks territory about halfway through, an exercise in frustration.
