An otherwise standard docudrama about France's most famous female author, Colette is given a sly spark by the entertaining lead performances of Keira Knightley and Dominic West.

This is the type of film that is meant to wring emotion out of helpless audiences. I felt I was an easy mark for a movie like this. But my face was dry at the end.

There is a thin line between family entertainment that can be enjoyed by all, and family entertainment that is aimed squarely at kids. That thin line is drawn with poop. The poop in question may be leafy and twiggy and blown out of the butt of a topiary winged lion, but no matter, the line is drawn. You've lost part of your audience. Bad kitty!

Yes, the film infamously features eyeball-searing scenes like ejaculating puppets, but I have to give credit where credit's due: The Happytime Murders made me actually snort with laughter several times, which no other movie has done this year.

This little movie is quietly satisfying, like the pleasing feeling of clicking that last puzzle piece into place.

Though it has all the trappings of the rom-com formula, Crazy Rich Asians somehow seems fresh for the simple fact that the cast is all Asian. It's a unicorn (hopefully the first of a herd) in American cinema.
