Kevin Costner returns to the OLD West with the epic Horizon: An American Saga

Our Rating

After spending several seasons in the New West of the mega-hit series Yellowstone, Kevin Costner dropped out to return to filmmaking… more specifically a project that has been simmering with him for decades. His epic Horizon: An America Saga promises to be a four-film series, with the first two parts coming out the summer of 2024. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a fan of Costner’s multi-Oscar-winning Dances With Wolves, despite some problematic historical romanticizing and Mary McDonnell’s poufy hair. I love it, and damn that film still makes me cry. This first teaser for Horizon looks just as promising, highlighting the clash of opportunistic and/or optimistic migrants in their wagon trains versus the indigenous folks that already were living in the places that they aim to settle. Throw in some post-Civil War U.S. soldiers, native warriors, and gunslingers, and it looks, well, epic to say the least. Looking forward to this series!

Horizon: An American Saga Chapter One comes to theaters June 28, 2024, with Chapter Two following August 16th.
