The Hunger Games series offers a world that is excessively, astonishingly bleak. What makes dystopian stories so enthralling is their “What if…?” scenarios—thinly-veiled reflections of the world we live in. But bleak as they are, there’s always an underlying spirit of resistance, to fight against the man or machine behind the repression.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is the second prequel to the original Katniss Everdeen trilogy. Set 24 years before the events in the original series, it begins the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. The trailer offers our first real glimpse of what appears to be an incredible cast, including Joseph Zada, Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Mckenna Grace, and Maya Hawke.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping comes to theaters November 20, 2026.
