In the movie Civil War, there is more than one reference to the namesake of Kirsten Dunst’s war photographer Lee Miller. The release of a biopic about the real-life WWII photographer couldn’t be more timely. The real Lee Miller famously took a photo of herself in Hitler’s bathtub (hopefully that will be recreated here), but is also remembered for her iconic photojournalism during the war—with her photos having particular empathy for women and other voiceless victims of conflict. Lee is the directorial debut for award-winning Cinematographer Ellen Kuras, which is intriguing as well.
Lee is coming to theaters September 27, 2024.
