Denzel Washington as the puppet-master with loads of power? Paul Mescal as the gladiator with vengeance? Pedro Pascal as the general destined to cross our hero in the arena? I wasn’t sure we needed another Gladiator film, but this next-generation sequel from director Ridley Scott looks promising in the best big-budget action way. The image of the Colosseum hosting a water battle looks fantastic, plus throw a battle-rhinoceros in the ring and Joseph Quinn as a power-hungry emperor, and Gladiator II looks like a must-see.
Gladiator II is coming to theaters November 22, 2024.
