Ryan Gosling puts the “not” in “astronaut” in the new trailer for Project Hail Mary, based on the best-selling novel by Andy Weir (The Martian). Personally, as one who doesn’t know the story, I think this trailer could have and should have ended about 3/4ths the way through (spoilers!). Don’t give it all away! There is something odd and intriguing about seeing Ryan Gosling and Sandra Hüller sharing a screen… a sort of “unlikely animal friends” of casting.
SYNOPSIS: Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.
Project Hail Mary is coming to theaters and IMAX March 20, 2026.
